How does Axichat compare to Spike?

Both Spike and Axichat are tremendous improvements over traditional email clients. However, Axichat goes further:

  • Both turn email into chat-like conversations, but Axichat also uses XMPP for Axichat-to-Axichat messaging while retaining SMTP and IMAP for email. Spike's conversational email remains email-based.
  • Spike emphasizes team productivity, whereas Axichat works just as well for individuals, families, and businesses.
  • Axichat is AGPL-3.0 open source, so you can inspect, modify, and self-host the software.
  • Axichat's Flutter codebase provides a consistent experience across supported desktop and mobile platforms.
